Instructional Design project dealing with issue of maternal mortality rates for black women and coming up with solutions for better health care and mental illness issues for pregnant black women.

This is an empathy map for a project that deals with job opportunities for older designers during the pandemic and researching what works for remote and hybrid workers especially concerning their health and Covid status.

The questions asked are the why, the what and the how in creating a mindmap and why are we doing this and exactly what are we doing to solve the problem and how? These are the questions asked for "Design as the Understanding"

Research for the project that deals with post-it notes with information on the different persona's who are a part of the different groups involved in the making of the design work without technology.

Here the students are assuming their roles as typography expert, production artist, designer, illustration expert, etc. and using post-it notes on a whiteboard to look at scheduling, who is doing what, who is the creative director and leader who dictates who does what and when.

This website was created after the projects were completed and the websites contains the specific projects (advertising campaign, corporate ID project, poster and brochure design, logo designs) and the process involved.

Making the argument that technology is a tool that should be used to create and produce design and the mindmap here talks about the different scenarios and persona's involved in the argument about the role that technology plays in graphic design.

Poster design based on the old "just say no" campaigns of the 1980's in talking about tools from the earlier times to build design by hand that the design team will use for the projects compared to using todays technology.

Instructional Design involves creating a learning curriculum for education or industry/business in which a problem is observed and ID involves creating solutions to make the learning curriculum and experience accessible and better for all.

A project that I did a few years was titled "Design as the Understanding" in which the problem was how to get designers to use critical and design thinking when it comes to creating graphic design so groups of five were created to do design without any technology which includes no computers.

The project involved creating mindmaps and "empathy maps" so the designer can ask the user what needs to be included in the design of the curriculum to better understand how to use 1980's era design tools such as spray mount, presentation boards, pantone colors, exacto knives and other tools.
